Who are Parkside Voice?
A small group of tenants and residents of the Parkside estate felt that there were problems on the estate that needed to be addressed, so they formed the Parkside Voice Tenants and Residents Association in 2003.
The group have always maintained strong links with local service providers including Annette Wilson and other community officers at Central Bedfordshire council, the Beat Manager and Sergeant at Houghton Regis police station, and other groups varying from crime prevention, Trading Standards, to the Youth offending team and drug rehabilitation workers.
The group have undertaken a variety of projects including a campaign to reduce vehicle crime on the Estate, the repainting of garage doors to get rid of graffiti and improve the way the estate looks, a mural project with the local teenagers and community artist Zena Jay Ellis, and a variety of fun days and events for Halloween, Christmas etc.
In 2009 after a quiet period with a lack of volunteers the group decided to merge forces with the local Stakeholder policing group, and has now become Parkside Voice Stakeholders Group.
